Join Urban3 Principal, Joe Minicozzi, as he presents during the Local Government Training, Wednesday, June 11th. Mr. Minicozzi will lead a breakout session on “Using Data to Leverage Land Value”. At this session, attendees will examine how market forces impact the built environment. Specifics include how land is valued and taxed, what publicly available data exists and how it can be leveraged, and unique ways to use data to drive progress in your municipality.

Heather Worthingham, Principal, will co-lead a full group primary educational session on “Wins and Losses: Finding Success in a Shifting Political Landscape.” This full-group session will feature case studies in which municipal staff were able to maintain the momentum to build more walkable, sustainable, and equity-supportive urbanism in the face of major political wins (or losses). Speakers will discuss how to continue pushing forward even when their political landscape has changed – sometimes for the better, though oftentimes for the worse. Attendees will learn tips for shifting messaging to influence public perception, navigating pushback, and educating new leaders on the importance of walkable urbanism from multiple perspectives – from economic to social and beyond.

Additionally, Urban3 will present on the Climate Track for “Strategies for Coastal Climate Adaptation and Resiliency Planning: Sea Level Rise and Economic Development on the Atlantic Coast” with Heather Worthington, and Lead Analyst, Leah Handwerger.

Each session provides CNU-A, AICP, AIA, and LA-CES continuing education credits. These sessions will be organized in the following way:

  • Climate Track
  • Development Track
  • Housing Track
  • Policy and Regulation Track
  • Public Engagement Track
  • Regional Context Track
