The LAB is a free monthly webinar – REGISTER HERE!

In this month’s Lab, we will discuss public assets and public wealth funds, or the idea that many cities have vast real estate portfolios that include vacant or underutilized urban land that could be leveraged to fund needed infrastructure improvements. Could cities already possess what they need to become fiscally resilient? Joe will be joined by special guests: Dag Detter and Rachel Goldsmith.

Dag Detter advises private and public sector clients across the world on the unlocking of value from public assets. He has worked in over thirty countries on a permanent and project basis and served as a Non-Executive Director of both listed and private companies. He is the author of ‘The Public Wealth of Nations’ – The Economist and Financial Time’s best book of the year, as well as ‘The Public Wealth of Cities’ and writes regularly in international media.

Rachel Goldsmith is an urban planner who has worked with public agencies for 20 years to help them determine what they own and how they own it, and to think strategically around disposition and development of land to increase agency revenues. She specializes in creating GIS for real estate inventory and records management, site selection for specific projects, identification of surplus land, public inquiry response, and operational applications.

We encourage you to submit questions when you register and we will also answer questions in real time on Zoom.
